MUMBAI: Zomato has increased its platform fees, a charge levied on customers as part of food delivery orders, to Rs 5, according to information available on the company’s app. Zomato did not respond to queries.
With consumers becoming more comfortable with online shopping and willing to pay a premium for the convenience of doorstep deliveries that platforms offer, companies are capitalising on the opportunity by levying additional charges like platform fees and shoring up their revenues per order.Zomato, which first started levying platform fees in Aug 2023, had initially been charging Rs 2 per order.
Its rival Swiggy also charges a platform fee of Rs 5 on food delivery orders.
