Musk’s date with Indian spacetech startups | India Business News

HYDERABAD: Tesla boss Elon Musk may be driving into India over the weekend with an eye on firming up plans for his big-ticket EV investment, but he seems to have potential opportunities for his space ventures SpaceX and Starlink on his mind, too.
Musk, who arrives in India on April 21, will meet founders of pioneering Indian spacetech startups and companies on April 22 at Bharat Mandapam.
Apart from Hyderabad-based spacetech players such as Skyroot Aerospace and Dhruva Space, he will also be meeting Bengaluru-based startups like Pixxel, Digantara and SatSure, and Chennai-based AgniKul Cosmos and GalaxEye Space.
Companies that make critical systems and subsystems for the space sector such as Ananth Technologies and Astra Microwave from Hyderabad as well as Astrome Technologies and Centum Electronics from Bengaluru have also been invited to the Musk meeting where PM Narendra Modi is expected to be present, sources said.
The top bosses of these private spacetech players have been roped in by the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (InSpace) – an autonomous agency under the department of space – to show their technologies and products to the American entrepreneur, it is learnt.
“We have been invited to showcase Indian capabilities in the space sector to Musk. We will be putting up an exhibition. We’ve been told the PM may also participate,” said the founder of a spacetech company.
